Purpose: The research was conducted with the aim of identifying and leveling the factors affecting the social role of the academic system based on the leveling method of interpretive structural equations.
Methodology: The research environment consists of all the sources, articles, books and specialized websites related to the research topic, and on the other hand, in order to stratify the factors, the views of the experts in this field were used, which were selected by purposeful sampling. The tools of data collection in the first part were the content analysis worksheets and the second part of the ISM questionnaire were the factors affecting the social role of the university. In order to analyze the data, the interpretive structural equation method and multi-criteria decision making were used.
Findings: The results of the research showed that the prioritization in order includes the expansion of social projects, education of qualified citizens, injection of the curriculum of active citizens, attention to the views of social stakeholders, social sensitivity training, challenging in the way of presenting content, preparing students. For public works, promoting civic learning, central research in curricula, cultivating competent people and increasing social participation were.
Conclusion: Based on this, it can be acknowledged that the key factors affecting the expansion of the social role of the university system are to remove the layout and exposure of universities from the closed walls to the open social environment.
